TJ Dillashaw claims that Aljamain Sterling’s tactics of undertaking the mental warfare approach won’t get him far ahead of UFC 280 title fight.
The former two-time bantamweight champion returned in July earlier this year, defeating Cory Sandhagen in a gruelling contest. The bout broke Dillashaw’s period of inactivity, which saw him out for two years following a suspension.
Dillashaw will be granted the opportunity to become a three-time UFC bantamweight champion when faced with current champion Aljamain Sterling on October 22nd at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
After a controversial first meeting between Sterling and Petr Yan, the Jamaican-born left no doubt in the judges’ scorecards in the pair’s second meeting, which saw him defend the title at UFC 273.
Ahead of the bantamweight showdown, Sterling has consistently poked jabs at Dillashaw’s past PED use, but the challenger brushes it off.
TJ Dillashaw Talks Bantamweight Title Fight
“I try not to hold much ill will when I fight, man. I know I fight better when I’m just relaxed and having fun,” Dillashaw mentioned. “I don’t hold a grudge or nothing. I feel he’s [Sterling] got to build something up. I think he’s already building excuses of why I’m gonna beat him, trying to play mental warfare, but it ain’t gonna work with me.”
