Tom Aspinall returned to the octagon with a bang securing a knockout victory over Marcin Tybura, following his time off since he got injured a year ago at UFC London. Tom Aspinall now wants to fight Jon Jones in a “dream fight” following his win at UFC London.
The UFC returned to London with a stacked card featuring some of the best fighters Britain has to offer. One of the big storylines heading out of the event was Tom Aspinall’s call out of Jon Jones.
Tom Aspinall made his return to the UFC octagon last night for the first time in a year following his injury at UFC London. Aspinall would return against #10-ranked Marcin Tybura. It wouldn’t take long for Aspinall to get the fight started. In the first exchange, Aspinall would rock Tybura with a head kick. Following up by dropping Tybura with a clean two-punch combination. After a couple of unanswered strikes, the fight was over in 1 minute and 13 seconds into the first round. In his post-fight interview, Aspinall would go on to call out Jon Jones and the winner of Gane vs Pavlovic.
Jon Jones meanwhile is preparing to defend his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 this November.
Tom Aspinall Talks Post UFC London Win
During Aspinall’s post-fight press conference, He was asked how he felt about Jones’s response to his call out:
“Jon Jones knows I exist, that’s a win itself I’m buzzing with that. what I want to do I’ve been saying it all week another goal of mine is to motivate Jon Jones to stick around and fight me. That’s my absolute dream!”
Just before the press conference was due to wrap up, Aspinall was asked what if Jon Jones was to retire after UFC 295.
“It’s not my goal, My goal is to become UFC Heavyweight champion of the world. That’s my life goal right now. But if I could fight Jon Jones that would be an extra bonus if I could get that it would be amazing. But if Jon was to retire I wouldn’t be like oh no he’s retired. I’d be upset but Id just fight the next guy with the title.”
It’s unclear if Tom Aspinall will get what he wants, a fight with Jon Jones, which he’s called a “dream match”, with Jones going on Twitter to reply to the call out with “sounds good lol”.
If it plays out how Aspinall wants it, It should shape up for one of the most anticipated matchups in UFC history. How do you see a fight against Jones going for Aspinall? Will Jon Jones retire?
