Tom Aspinall, the man who left no doubt at UFC 304, is playing with the idea of having a fight in Boxing.
With the former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou finding success financially in boxing, it has every other MMA fighter salivating on the potential switch.
Tom Aspinall is no different. His skill set and speed matches up perfectly for the sweet science of boxing. Many fans have begun to wonder just how much success he would have in a boxing ring at an elite level.
In a recent interview with the great British boxer Carl Froch, Tom Aspinall confirmed that he wouldn’t rule out the idea.
“I’m definitely going to stick with MMA for the time being, I’ve got a lot more to do in the UFC at the minute but with what them Saudis are paying – if we’re talking $15 million, I mean you can never say never.”
“At the back end of my career, I might look into that thing but right now, I’ve got a lot more work to do with the UFC – but I’ll never say never to it… I’d take a couple of money fights but to be a world champion [in boxing], it’s a lifetime, a full body of work to be a world champion.”
“I might not be a world champion mate, but I’ll pop over for a few quid.”
Tom Aspinall Awaits His Shot to Become Undisputed
It seems that a date with the winner of Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic could be the only snag of hopping over to boxing.
Tom Aspinall has a chance to claim heavyweight undisputed status after Jones and Miocic handle their business. So it’s nice to entertain boxing, but Tom Aspinall’s business in the UFC isn’t quite finished yet.
Is this something fight fans want to see? Can Tom Aspinall be the hero for mixed martial arts and go over to boxing and vanquish their champions?
Either way, it’s nice to see an avenue for MMA stars to get the pay days they rightfully deserve.
