Interview With Tom Dowling
Tom, it’s not long until you make the walk for the first time as an amateur. Talk us through the emotions you’re going through and everything you’re feeling as we close in on your big day.
Im feeling confident. It’s Been a long-awaited debut, ready to show levels, get as many fights in as I can, and why I’m young.
For those who may not know you, give them a brief background on yourself, your journey into MMA, and how long you’ve been training up until this point.
I started when I was 16, straight after the gyms opened back up after the lockdown. I’ve always enjoyed watching MMA on the telly and just had the urge to go down to Hamma, where I’ve been training for about 2.5 years and have not looked back since.
In terms of training, how did you and your coach know the time was right to take the leap and test your skills in a competitive setting?
I think my coaches knew it was the right time as I’ve been training in and around killers, constantly improving and learning more about myself.
Tom Dowling Talks MMA Debut
Although you’ve yet to fight, you’ll fight on one of the most well-established shows in the country. What do you know about Almighty Fighting Championship, and how happy are you to be given the opportunity to show what you can do on their stage?
I’m buzzing to be making my debut on Almighty, one of the best shows in the UK. I can’t wait to show why I deserve to be fighting on the best UK shows.
Mohammad Jano is your opponent on the night. Tell us, have you watched his one fight and broken down his skills? If so, what are your overall thoughts on this fight?
I’ve seen a clip of my opponent. He looks explosive, which should make for a good fight, but I’ll be looking for a finish.
Highlight what it would mean to you to get that first victory under your belt in your debut outing and what the fans in attendance can expect to see from you when you step in there.
I look forward to getting my hand raised, and the fans can expect to see a clean performance.
