Tommy Hunter Ready for Battle at Unity FC
Tommy will be back to work in early 2024 to get that first win in your column. How have things been since your amateur debut at Rise and Conquer?
It’s been enjoyable, mate; training’s still hard but not as intense. I have been able to try new things while still learning and improving, but I have just been keeping active.
You put on a cracker of a fight with Rhys Dobson, which ended in a draw. It’s not often amateur debuts end in a draw. Having had time to digest and reflect, what are your thoughts on that fight with Rhys and everything that unfolded on Rise and Conquer?
It was a fun scrap! I thought I had done enough to get the decision, but it’s the fight game. I just wanted to give everyone an entertaining fight, and we did just that.
Having made the walk and went through all the emotions of a debut fight. What’s the biggest learning experience that has given you?
To just embrace all the emotions. One of my best mates and coach told me to enjoy and appreciate all the feelings of fight day while I can!
Expectations
Did everything live up to your expectations? Did anything catch you off guard, or did it all feel and pan out as expected?
Aye, I forget how knackered the big stage and lights get you! Haha, it feels surreal fighting in front of hundreds of people. No feeling quite like it
You will face James Greechan in Darlington, who’s hungry just as you for his first win. Having watched his debut, what do you see, and do you have any concerns about what he brings to the cage?
He’s got some good stand-up, so it’ll be a back-and-forth scrap. He seems game, so I’m looking forward to an entertaining fight.
Highlight what it would mean to you to get that first win under your belt on Feb. 17.
Be lethal! Haha, It would give me the best start to an active and competitive year. Let’s go.
