Tyreece Richards plans to show his all round game at Battle Arena 77.
Battle Arena 77 goes down Saturday, September 9th, in Coventry, England. The card is stacked from top to bottom with must-watch amateurs and professional fighters making the walk.
Richards will collide with Vinny Ciubotaru, who debuted last year. Ahead of fight night, we had the chance to catch up with Tyreece Richards. Hear his thoughts below.
Interview With Tyreece Richards
You’re all set to make your third walk to the cage this year. Before we dive into the fight this Saturday. How would you sum up your year in competition thus far, and what’s the biggest lesson you’ve taken from that?
This years been a good year. I got to be a lot more active, and I’ve probably learnt the most this year in terms of my growth as a fighte. I’ve learnt to trust the process and stay committed to the long term goal
Last time out at FightStar you returned to the win column after facing your first defeat on BA’s last show. Despite missing out on bagging their featherweight’s strap. How did you deal with that loss, and given it’s your first-time tasting defeat in the cage, was it a tough one to deal with?
It felt good to get the W again, I feel like we did enough to get the win last time on BA as well, but it is what it is. I’ve lost once before in SA IMMAF and dealt with the last loss the same way, focus on what we did right, and fix what we did wrong, and overall do our best to get better in all aspects.
It didn’t take you long to pick yourself up and get back to winning ways. How important was it for you to return with a win over Rob Elliot, and upon reflection, are you totally satisfied with that performance?
Im happy we got to go out there and show the improvements we’ve made since the last time out, and I feel like people definitely saw the changes. He was a very game opponent who competed at welterweight, so his size and awkward style made things interesting, Rob definitely had that dog in him for sure I gave him multiple opportunities to quit, and he never even thought about it.
Tyreece Richards Talks Opponent
Saturday night you’re met with Ciubotaru. What do you know about him, and how do you feel about this matchup?
I don’t know too much about him, just from what I’ve seen. It will be one of the higher level fights on the card, We’re two of the best prospects in the division, so it’s definitely going to be a fight people will be tuning into.
The experience is heavily in your favour. Do you anticipate that playing a part on fight night?
I’ve got the experience going into this one. I think the pressure is on him a lot more than it’s on me, and we’ll see how well he deals with that.
Battle Arena Debut for Vinny
Vinny made his debut at the start of the year on Battle Arena. Have you managed to watch any of that back? If so, what can you take away from his debut performance?
I did see some tape on him from his last fight. I think he has a very cage control heavy game plan a bit like Merab vs Aldo type of style.
Finally, leave us with your official prediction and any last words you may have for your opponent?
I see him shooting early on, he might stand for a little bit, but ultimately I know he wants this fight on the ground, and I’ll show him that my wrestling is just as good as my striking.
