Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou are set to face off against one another on October 28th. The bout will be Ngannou’s first ever professional boxing match.
But, despite the Cameroonian heavyweight being a novice in the world of pro boxing, the WBC heavyweight champion seems to be more concerned by the former UFC heavyweight champion than his potential future opponent Oleksandr Usyk.
Usyk holds the WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO titles, and he and Fury have signed contracts to fight, in Saudi Arabia, for the undisputed heavyweight crown on 23rd December; just less than two months after the Englishman’s fight against Ngannou.
Tyson Fury on the Dangers of Facing Francis Ngannou
In an interview with ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, Fury said: “A lot of people are on about this undisputed fight (against Usyk), fantastic. But I have a much more dangerous person to deal with on (October 28) than I do after for the undisputed fight, I believe.
“Because Francis is a bigger man, stronger, more powerful and has knockout capability. As we’ve seen with Usyk, he doesn’t really do much damage to people he hits. So you could probably let Usyk punch you all about the head and he’ll give you a black eye.
“If you let Ngannou punch you all about the head, he’s probably going to rattle your brain for you.”
Despite the heavy praise for the former UFC heavyweight champion, The Gypsy King still isn’t too fazed by the prospect of facing him, this weekend.
“He won’t do anything that I’ve not seen before,” said Fury. “I’ve sparred with a lot of kickboxers and MMA fighters over the years.
“They’re all strong and tough guys, and they all can take a good beating usually. So I’m expecting him to be fit and strong and motivated.”

What Do People Think of Fury v Ngannou?
In the interview with ESPN, Fury referenced the fact that Ngannou is getting paid a big bag of money to face him, and that’s what a lot of people see it as: a cash grab.
Those exact words were used by the Fight Disciples podcast, hosted by Adam Catterall and Nick Peet, who have both covered combat sports for a long time.
Ngannou is set to earn $10 million from the fight, according to the Evening Standard, which is a massive increase from the $600,000 that he earned in his last UFC fight with Ciryl Gane.
Derek Chisora, a long-term friend of Fury’s, told FightHub TV that The Gypsy King will make $50 million for taking on The Predator.
