Tyson Fury has expressed interest in facing former UFC champion Francis Ngannou with ‘superstar’ to referee.
WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is currently negotiating a thrilling contest with WBO, IBF, IBO and WBA heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury has issued a new challenge to recently departed UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou to compete inside the cage if the deal is not finalised with reigning champ Usyk.
Last week, Francis Ngannou parted ways with the UFC and vacated his heavyweight title, consequently becoming free from contractual obligations.
Fury took to Twitter back in January to congratulate Ngannou after he defeated his former UFC training partner turned rival, Ciryl Gane.
Tyson Fury and Ngannou Previously Met in April 2022
Ngannou was ringside last year when ‘The Gypsy King’ scored a highlight reel knockout over Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium.
After the contest, Fury and Ngannou met in the ring to discuss the potential of a cross-sport bout.
Since then, Tyson has moved to 33-0-1 after a masterclass against Derek Chisora.
The WBC champ then proposed that his clash against undefeated Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk will be the ‘fight of the century’ and would complete his legacy as the greatest heavyweight of his generation.
Tyson Fury, interviewed before the vicious knockout win by Liam Smith, commented on the fight with Seconds Out:
“The one before that was Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney, the biggest crowd ever recorded at a boxing show.”
“This is the fight of the century, they build Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier 1 as the fight of the century.”
The monumental showdown between Fury and Usyk is rumoured to be set in Saudi Arabia or London in April.
Until the deal is signed, Tyson Fury has his eyes set on the knockout specialist Francis Ngannou with boxing legend Mike Tyson possibly refereeing the matchup.
“Francis Ngannou, I know you’re out of contract with the UFC, you want to earn some big money? Come see ‘The Gypsy King’ and let’s do a big fight for the baddest M.F on the planet.”
“Let’s kick it up spicy in a cage, four-ounce gloves, under Queensbury, and let’s have a badass referee like ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.”
Whilst an undisputed contest with Oleksandr Usyk is inevitable for Tyson Fury, the potential of a cross-sport encounter with free-agent Ngannou for the ‘baddest man on the planet’ status is enough to excite any fight fan.
