Tyson Fury is a legend of boxing and is the current holder of the WBC heavyweight championship. In October, he will fight former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in an exhibition fight. Fury is a top-rated fighter in the United Kingdom and so is Anthony Joshua who is always linked when considering who Fury can fight. However, Fury doesn’t seem that interested in a matchup with AJ.
The Career Of Tyson Fury
Fury is an incredible fighter and is making a case as being one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. He has overcome many obstacles in his life and is an inspiration to many people around the world. His work in the ring has been exceptional, as he is undefeated and never seems to be in trouble in a fight. His boxing IQ is sensational, his footwork and speed are outstanding, and he has the power to put anyone’s lights out. He has beaten many great fighters throughout his time in the sport. However, the one criticism you may have of him is that he always seems to not fight the current big names in boxing.
A prime example is when Oleksandr Usyk was willing to take less money to fight him, but Fury still said no. There have always been talks about a fight between him and Joshua because many fans would love to see them square off. It is because they are both massive names in British boxing. Even though the two have shared the spotlight, they are yet to face each other in the ring. Furthermore, it doesn’t like it will happen anytime soon.
The Face Of British Boxing Anthony Joshua
Joshua has been the face of British boxing for many years now. The former champion is a former heavyweight champion, and like Fury, he has beaten many great boxers throughout his career. He is known for his tremendous power and the ability to produce exciting knockouts. He is rebuilding his career after two disappointing results against Usyk that cost him his titles. At the moment, Joshua is on a two-fight win streak. He aims to get back to the title picture, and a win over Fury would make him a world champion again. Joshua would likely go into the bout as an underdog, but anything can happen in heavyweight boxing.
Fury Doesn’t See The Fight Happening
As previously stated, they are both big names in British boxing and will always be linked. However, when speaking to IFL TV, Fury said a fight with Joshua will never happen.
“There is no AJ to me, is there? He’s a gym sweeper. Sweeps the gym floors and that. Gets beat up by people. He’s like an old journeyman now. If you’re a decent heavyweight and you want to beat up on somebody, call him out. You’ll beat him easily. Sausage.”
