There will be no British judges when Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte takes place at Wembley Stadium on April 23rd.
Fury’s team requested to the WBC that there should be no British judges for the WBC heavyweight title fight. Despite both fighters being British, the request comes after a series of controversial decisions made by BBBofC officials. Although no British judges will be officiating the title bout, Briton Mark Lyson will be the man to referee.
It is no shock that such a request has been made. In many people’s eyes, Jack Catterall was on course to win the undisputed world lightweight titles until the judges gave a controversial split decision win to Josh Taylor. A lot of scrutinies has been surrounding the BBBofC following such decisions. The request made by team Fury is certainly justified.
Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte – No Controversies
Tyson Fury told talkSPORT:
“I’ve seen an article recently where Frank Warren said there would be no British judges for this fight and I reiterate that as well. Those words echo around my training camp. We don’t want British judges for this fight.”
“We want proper, experienced judges who will do the right thing!”
Tyson Fury has previously had issues with the BBBofC, and the Nevada State Athletic Commission licenses him. Fury will be temporarily licensed by the BBBofC for this fight as a foreign fighter even though he is British.
Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte takes place at Wembley stadium in London. It will be Fury’s first fight on UK soil since 2018, with his last five fights taking place in America. Fury last fought in the UK at Windsor Park in Belfast on the undercard of Carl Frampton vs Luke Jackson.
