These days in combat sports, retirement never seems to be forever. Following his retirement after his unanimous decision loss to Vitor Petrino, a quick return to the combat sports world was in the cards for Tyson Pedro, who will be switching his MMA gloves to boxing gloves (as announced by Australian boxing legend Danny Green).
“Australia, Tyson Pedro is not coming to Boxing. He’s COMING BACK! Big Day today. Green Machine Promotions announced the signing of Tyson Pedro. He was 5-0 as an amateur, winning an intermediate state NSW title. He’s going to shake things up. Thankyou to the legends that supported the event. From right, Sonny Bill Williams, Billy Dib, Anthony Mundine, the man of the moment Tyson Pedro, some knucklehead, Ella Boot , and the legendary Johnny Lewis. GMP have been in the game since 2002. We look forward to staging World Class events , exciting and captivating the public so they want more! Cheers to the GEEDUP lads for their support of Tyson. Thankyou to all who attended.
Peace
DG”
Tyson Pedro left the UFC and the sport of mixed martial arts with a pro record of 10 wins and 5 losses. His retirement came as a shock to many of his fans as he went the limit with a legit destroyer in Petrino. Unfortunately, the reason he was retiring was financial.
Bigger Paydays in Boxing for Tyson Pedro
Mixed martial arts have been notorious for not having the greatest paydays in the combat sports realm and it seems that not only the UFC but MMA in general has been losing fighters to boxing for the bigger paydays.
Look at the bank account boost that Conor McGregor did for himself against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Even Francis Ngannou has made a splash in boxing, gaining millions of dollars in only two fights.
Exciting times for boxing with a talented striker like Tyson Pedro making the switch. Tyson Pedro was a top prospect in the UFC but couldn’t get any momentum going after injuries set back what was a promising career. But there is a silver lining for Tyson Pedro with Danny Green backing his quest for boxing glory. Green’s record is a very decorated record of 43 wins and 5 losses. Green even has a TKO victory over Roy Jones Jr., where he retained his IBO cruiserweight title.
Here at Combat Sports UK we are excited to witness the transition from MMA to boxing for Tyson Pedro.
