UFC 280 (Oliveira vs. Makhachev) will take place on October 22nd, 2022, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, with such a big card its only right we make a full betting guide, to hopefully help you make the right fight picks. The odds that will be shown in this article are from the date posted, so please be aware odds may change from when you read this.
Malcolm Gordon VS Muhammad Mokaev – Fight not to go to distance. Odds – 1/3
Malcolm Gordon upon his arrival into the UFC in July 2020 has an even record of 2-2, only one of them fights going to decision, Gordon is a dangerous black belt in BJJ, so a stand-up affair looks likely. Mokaev the Russian born fighter who fights from Manchester England, is 2-0 in the UFC since joining just this year! Mokaev has one fight that went the distance and that was his last one, he was very down on himself after his last performance against Charles Johnson and he seems very eager to get himself a standout performance in this fight.
Nikita Krylov VS Volkan Oezdemir – Nikita Krylov WIN. Odds – 1/2
This fight in all truth is what you can call a 50/50, the theory behind this as well as it being decent odds is Krylov tends to do well against opponents that prefer to strike, Oezdemir is no slouch (especially on the feet) and if you listen to Anthony Smith, he’ll tell you how hard Volkan can punch, so all in all based on both of their last respected performances, we think Krylov in a close fight is the result to go for.
Beneil Dariush VS Mateusz Gamrot – Mateusz Gamrot to win by KO/TKO. Odds – 4/1
You have to respect Beneil Dariush, ranked #6 in the stacked lightweight division and is putting this plus his impressive 7 fight win streak at stake, against a not as well-known opponent, but a dam tough one in Mateusz Gamrot! The old saying styles makes fights, well this is what you have here, Dariush has had so much success due to his wrestling and BJJ being so slick, now trying to implement this style on Gamrot is going to be a different ball game all together, his wrestling defense (plus offense) should be more than enough to keep Beneil off his back, which leads this to a stand-up battle, we believe Gamrot is the superior striker and therefore see this outcome of a KO/TKO happening, but all respect to Beneil.
Petr Yan VS Sean O’Malley – Petr Yan to WIN. Odds – 4/11
Like many fights on this card this is a close one to call, up until this point I wouldn’t dream against parting money against “sugar” Sean, that being said it’s hard to place a wager down on someone that hasn’t had a full round with a top ten opponent, but now is expected to go a full 3 rounds with perhaps the best striker in the bantamweight division. O’Malley has called for this fight for some time now so maybe, he knows something we don’t. It will be beautiful sight to watch these to gifted strikers settle their differences.
Charles Oliveira VS Islam Makhachev – Charles Oliveira to WIN. Odds – 5/4
Now time for the main event, we are finally here, who will be victorious, will it be BJJ, or will it be sambo? On our end we believe due to the odds the smart money would be Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira for the win, it’s very difficult to call but the money is far too good to go against the former (current) champion, whether the slick Brazilian can overcome this huge obstacle we will have to find out, it’s the beauty in our sport.
Betting summary
With these odds on an accumulator, £10 stake will return you £313.64.
