Renato Moicano has slowly become a fan favorite, undoubtedly through his recent performances with wins over Brad Riddell and Drew Dober. But mainly from his post fight speeches and personality outside of the cage. He’s been a lot more present on social media giving his hot takes on X and fight analysis on his YouTube channel. Ranting about UFC Apex cards, recapping PPVs like UFC 298, and now expressing his disappointment in the most anticipated card of the year in UFC 300.
Renato Moicano UFC 300
“Dana White said we won’t believe the main event, expectations were very high… It’s one of the UFC’s biggest failures”
Moicano was not happy about Alex Pereira & Jamahall Hill as the main event and was not satisfied with the whole 300 card based on the words spoken by Dana White. He is not alone in this, a lot of fans have spoken out about the lackluster announcement and product being delivered. Moicano specifically stated, “something is missing”.
What is the Solution?
Moicano offers alternatives to what was given as the main event.
“Conor, Jones, and Khabib. Conor McGregor VS Charles Oliveira, that is a fight worthy of the 300 main event… Leon Edwards vs Khamzat Chimaev or Islam Makhachev, that is also worthy”
He goes on to explain that these fights bring that shock factor fans and himself were expecting, and according to reports Leon Edwards was offered the 2 fights Moicano mentioned but they didn’t pan out.
Conor McGregor against anyone is a no brainer and almost a guaranteed 1M+ PPV buys, but his status is as uncertain as it’s ever been.
Therefore, it’s clear the initial plans didn’t come to fruition, leading to the current main event.
The Ripple Effect
Not only is Moicano upset about UFC 300, but he’s also angry about what it means for the card. Additionally UFC 301 on May 4th in Brazil. Alex Pereira and Charles Oliveria are 2 of Brazilian MMA’s biggest names, and won’t be competing in card taking place in their home country.
“People love Charles Oliveira, he’s the biggest star in Brazilian MMA… Alex Pereira defending his title in Brazil, that would be crazy”
He explains since the initial plans fell through for the UFC. It has resulted in changes that now diminish the next card. Although, could have been just as good.
