The King of Rio Jose Aldo returns home at UFC 301. It is as simple as that; the violence that Aldo is notorious for is back and not taking any easy fights.
Many fans have a burning question. Will the return be a storybook ending that a legend of his calibre deserves? Or, will the sport of MMA continue to show its unforgiving ways of not letting legends ride off into the sunset?
There are so many questions leading up to this fight between Jonathan Martinez and Jose Aldo.
Does Aldo still have what it takes to compete since being away from the Octagon for a couple of years now? Can Jonathan Martinez finish the legend with leg kicks?
Jose Aldo vs. Jonathan Martinez: The battle of leg kicks at UFC 301
Jonathan Martinez has unleashed some violent fight-ending leg kicks. Even with a stoppage, Jonathan Martinez could add a trophy to his resume with a battering of Aldo’s legs.
On the other side, Jose Aldo has not been one to lay into the legs of his opponents like he used to. He seems to have abandoned that game plan over the years.
Jose Aldo will most likely look to showcase his boxing and keep his feet standing. But honestly, who knows? We might see a well-healed Aldo who comes out untouchable.
One thing is for sure, the excitement level is always turned to max when a legend returns.
Win or lose, it will be hard to say goodbye to Aldo once again. But who knows, maybe a win over a contender like Jonathan Martinez could skyrocket him back into a title shot.
Wishful thinking, but crazier things have happened in the sport of mixed martial arts. When the dust settles, we can all agree that it is very special to be able to witness this moment of having a legend like Jose Aldo finish in front of his people.
