Alexandr Romanov will come up against Jailton Almedia on the main card of UFC 302.
Alexandre Romanov Journey to UFC
Alexandr Romanov started his professional career off against Yuriy Protzenko back in 2016. Romanov was able to get the victory due to a rear naked choke in the first round to get off to the perfect start. Alexandr Romanov would be able to follow this victory up with a 3rd round stoppage over Andrey Burdeniuk. Shota Betlememidze was then next to face Alexnadr Romanov. However, just like the over people Romanov was able to finish the fight. Romanov was able to submit Betlememidze in the first round due to a rear naked choke.
This started a streak of first-round finishes for Alexandre Romanov. Next up to face Romanov was Evgeniy Golub. Romanov was able to get the stoppage in the first round due to punches. This was before submitting Yuri Gorbenko in the first round due to a forearm choke. Ravshankhon Khysanov was next up and just like the last was able to be finished in the first round. This time he was able to get the victory by punches. He was able to get the victory against Alexandr Stolyarov inside 36 seconds when Alexandr Romanov was able to get the victory due to punches.
The first-round finishing streak wouldn’t stop there as he was able to get a first-round forearm choke against Ion Grigrore. Virgil Zwicker would be next to try and stop Romanov. However, just like the others who had tried in the past he would end up losing in the first round. Romanov was able to submit Zwicker in the first round due to a choke. A 3rd round victory against Sultan Murtazaliev by punches and a 1st round stoppage against Sérgio Freitas due to a slam would book Alexandr Romanov a ticket to the UFC.
Alexandr Romanov UFC Career
Alexandr Romanov faced off against 15-5-2 Roque Martinez. Romanov was able to keep his stoppage streak going when he was able to find the finish in the 2nd round due to an arm triangle. Marcos Rogério de Lima would be next to face Alexandr Romanov. Alexandr Romanov was able to find the stoppage in the first round due to a forearm choke. Before facing Juan Espino next up. This fight finished as a technical split decision.
Jared Vanderaa would be next to step up but wouldn’t be able to get the victory as Alexandr Romanov was able to get the stoppage in the 2nd round due to ground and pound. Romanov then kept the winning streak going when he faced Chase Sherman. Alexandr Romanov was able to secure the victory in the first round due to an Americana.
However, Romanov would then go on to suffer his first defeat when he faced off against Marcin Tybura due to a majority decision before getting stopped by Alexander Volkov. Volkov was able to get the victory against Romanov due to punches from back control in the first round. However, Alexandr Romanov has been able to bounce back from these defeats when he faced Blagory Ivanov. Ramonov was able to get the decision victory to get himself back into the win column to set up this fight.
Jailton Almeida Match Up
Alexandr Romanov is coming into this fight with a reach disadvantage. Romanov will have to work his way into the reach of Almeida as Romanov holds a 4-inch reach disadvantage. Almeida goes for an average of 6.88 takedowns per fight and is able to land 54% of them. Romanov will have to improve his takedown defence if he is not wanting to be takedown. This is due to Romanov has a takedown defence of 20%. Almeida will try his best to put pressure on Romanov to try and get the fight to the ground so Romanov will have to be at his best.
