UFC 304 finally has its main event confirmed. Taking place in Manchester, England fans from the UK have been waiting with bated breath to see who will headline the momentous event. Now we know that Leon Edwards will defend his welterweight gold against former foe Belal Muhammad.
UFC 304 Manchester Main Event Set
The UFC 304 main event is a rematch over three years in the making. The first meeting between the pair ended in the second round due to an unintentional eye poke that rendered Muhammad unable to continue, thus ruling the bout a no-contest.
Since their first meeting, the pair have each gone undefeated. Belal has made it five wins on the bounce, last defeating Gilbert Burns at UFC 288. For Edwards, he has taken the welterweight division by storm. Winning four in a row and gaining welterweight gold in the process.
Both men have had their thoughts on the first meeting and each sees a clear path to victory. With all the talking over the past three years, fans need to wait no longer to see how things will play out in the UFC 304 main event.
UFC 304 Co-main Event Set
Alongside the UFC 304 main event, UFC president Dana White also announced two other bouts for the card. One of which was the co-main event that will see Tom Aspinall defend his interim heavyweight gold against perennial contender Curtis Blaydes.
Another rematch that saw the first meeting between fighters marred by unfortunate circumstances. Aspinall and Blaydes previously headlined a fight night card in London in 2022. The bout was declared a TKO victory to Blaydes after just 15 seconds due to a knee injury sustained by the Brit.
Both have fought twice since their first meeting. Blaydes has gone 1-1 in this time, last securing a huge comeback KO victory over Jailton Almeida at UFC 299. Aspinall put his injury woes behind him and made a surge to the top. Claiming interim gold on short notice when he emphatically stopped Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295 via first-round knockout.
Lightweight Banger Added to UFC 304
Alongside the main and co-main event title showdowns. Dana White announced one more bout for Manchester. Paddy Pimblett returns to England as he takes his first crack at the rankings. Looking to halt the Pimblett hype train is the always-game Bobby Green.
Since entering the UFC, Pimblett has taken the promotion by storm. Backing up his word inside the cage, The Baddy has gone 5-0 since his 2021 debut. One man who will not be affected by the hype is his opponent, Bobby Green.
Green has fought a murderer’s row of lightweight contenders in his long UFC tenure. He will happily fly to Manchester to throw down on enemy turf as he looks to make this fight the UFC 304 people’s main event.
A combined 35 finishes between them. The matchmakers have earned their money with this one.
