The world’s first sporting event at the globes newest spectacular venue, The Sphere, is live this weekend at UFC 306.
A tribute to the history of the Mexico and a ‘love letter to the Mexican people‘ promised by UFC President Dana White. The event promises to be a once in a lifetime moment and something that will be truly unmissable whether you are there in person or watching at home.
The main event does not involve a Mexican however Merab Dvalishvili has adopted the support of the Mexican people as he steps up to take on striking phenom and UFC superstar Sean O’Malley, the reigning bantamweight champion. O’Malley is regarded as one of the sports best strikers and is possibly the biggest star in the sport. However, his opponent this weekend is going to be his toughest test to date. Dvalishvili is relentless in his pressure and wrestling exchanges, he has drowned almost all his opponents in the UFC and boasts a record of 10-2 in the elite organisation.
In the co-main event a history making fight takes place, the first ever female trilogy fight between Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko. The first Mexican female champion Grasso snatched the belt from long standing flyweight queen Shevchenko last year. In their rematch almost a year ago to the date a draw was the result after some controversial scoring. The pair have gone head to head as coaches in the 32nd season of TUF and this weekend we will see the trilogy and possibly the final bout between the pair.
Mexican fighters flood the card and each one has the opportunity to become the nations next fighting icon.
