UFC 310 is just around the corner however prior to fight night are the crucial weigh-ins. The main event is for the UFC flyweight champion with dominant champion Alexandre Pantoja defending against Kai Asakura. Pantoja on a great run of form riding a 6 fight winning streak dethroning Brandon Moreno. He has subsequently defended the belt twice dominantly in a rematch against Brandon Royval and a close fight against Steve Erceg. And now in his 3rd defence he faces former Rizin bantamweight champion Kai Asakura making his debut in the UFC on the biggest stage in the sport. Asakura is know for explosive striking and holds notable wins over Manel Kape and Kyoji Horiguchi.
The co-main event is a battle between two of the top welterweight contenders to decide who gets the next title shot. Shavkat Rakhmonov is a well rounded grappler who has never tasted defeat in his professional career. He holds 18 wins all by finishes and is the dark horse of the division. Rakhmonov was meant to be fighting Belal Muhammad on this card. But, Muhammad injured his toe. And so in stepped Ian Garry another undefeated contender known for his striking.
