The new UFC bantamweight Champion Sean O’Malley calls out the rising boxing star Gervonta Davis after his shock knockout of Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292
The ‘Suga’ show is now fully in session. O’Malley has gained UFC gold after his fantastic, flash knockout of former dominant champion Aljamain Sterling. However, he may of let his victory go to his head as Sean O’Malley has called out the boxing star Gervonta Davis at his press conference. ‘I also wouldn’t mind knocking out Gervonta Davis.’. ‘And I know people are gonna go, Ahh you want to be like Conor (Mcgregor)’. ‘I’m telling you, that fight is going to happen’.
Now while this fight certainly ramp up a lot of interest between the two sports, O’Malley might want to be careful with this call out. If the fight is decided to be an MMA fight, O’Malley has it in the bag but if it is a boxing match, Gervonta Davis would win easily. O’Malley, in the world of the UFC, has phenomenal striking and his right hand is a weapon however Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis isn’t called ‘Tank’ for no reason. His boxing is slick and powerful and his durability and chin would mean that O’Malley would have a very hard time finding his off switch.
I am not the only person who feels this way. Other fighters have also expressed their concern to O’Malley’s chances in this fight
Ryan Garcia Warns Sean O’Malley
Ryan Garcia, warned the new champ of his chances if he came into the boxing world. Garcia, who lost to a seventh round Knockout to Gervonta Davis at the T-mobile arena on the 22nd of April, went to Twitter to send a very blunt message to O’Malley.
The Tweet stated. ‘SUGA Sean you are good an all..’Stop talking about this I’m going to box stuff’. ‘You’ll just get knocked out’.

If O’Malley could actually beat Gervonta Davis in a boxing match is truly up for debate. The real question is, will this fight happen? The UFC could definitely make a major amount of money from their new super star. Also, it has been shown that crossover fights between MMA and Boxing can rake in the cash. It is truly up to the head of the UFC, Dana White. Dana really doesn’t like sharing his champions with other sports. This has been shown by the year long feud Dana had with the former UFC Heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou. However, if Dana can see the chance for a major payday, such as the Conor Mcgregor and Floyd Mayweather fight, he will certainly allow it to happen.
Marlon Vera?
Sean O’Malley also calling out Marlon Vera to fight in december. Because of this, we won’t see the two stars fight until at least next year. For all we know, in that time, O’Malley could lose the belt and he will lose his leverage to force Dana White to make the fight happen. However, this call out should not move the focus from the fact that Sean O’Malley is now the UFC Bantamweight Champion.
