UFC gets right back on the road after UFC 288 with UFC Charlotte this weekend. The Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina will see a 12 fight card beginning at 11:30 AM EST. The lines are out and it is time for us to see where the value is this week.
BET #1 – Gabe Green ML -135
The first bet here is heavily based on the stylistic matchup. Bryan Battle has struggled with takedown defense and we expect Green to exploit that. Both of these men are solid enough strikers to have a competitive time on the feet. Green will be able to hold his own, and will really stand out if he pursues the grappling. Green is well rounded as he was able to compete closely with fellow fighter on this card Ian Garry in a pure striking match. Even if this is a pure striking match for some reason, Green has enough there to justify this short price tag.
BET #2 – Sherman/Williams Under 2.5 Rounds -140
A spot that had a better line in the previous booking still looks decent here. Karl Williams has yet to land a finish in his UFC tenure and that gives us a betable line here. Neither Williams or Sherman have been known for cardio, and both have conflicting styles with finishing potential. If this hits the ground it will be big for Williams and a finish is plausible. If Sherman can keep this upright he will be getting big chances. Either way in such a matchup between two large men, this -140 tag is not terrible at all.
BET #3 – Matt Brown ML +175
What a fan friendly matchup here between Matt Brown and Court McGee. These two veterans have had extremely respectable careers and will no doubt hang it up soon. Court McGee has the wrestling to really neutralize this matchup. Our best guess however, is that these men will stand and bang to put on a show for the audience. Much like his Carlos Condit fight, McGee could leave the wrestling behind for a more entertaining matchup. In this scenario, Matt Brown should more than cover his underdog price and do enough to get the win. This is a 50/50 scenario in our eyes, which makes the +175 line a great value.
