Melissa Dixon finally makes her UFC debut this Saturday on the Vegas 81 undercard. Dixon signed for the promotion in June after an impressive start to her professional career. Hailing from Coventry in the United Kingdom, ‘No Mess’ comes into this fight with an undefeated record of 5-0 and is looking to make a statement in the big leagues.
Dixon’s Journey to the UFC
The bantamweight fighter began her professional career with Golden Ticket Fight Promotions back in 2021. Dixon won her first two fights via knockout and her third by unanimous decision in which she claimed the bantamweight title. She then moved over to ARES FC where her dominance continued, and after winning her first bout by decision, secured a TKO victory in her most recent fight with some heavy ground and pound in round one. Her clinical performances led to a contract with the UFC after only two years.
UFC Debut for Melissa Dixon
The 32-year-old takes on ‘Russian Ronda’ Irina Alekseeva in her UFC debut on Saturday. Alekseeva tasted success in her own debut in April after picking up a slick win via kneebar over Stephanie Egger. It’s early days for both women in their professional careers, with the Russian currently at 5-1.
Coventry’s own Dixon has shown previously that she has powerful and accurate striking abilities. She can wrestle too, and has had success clinching with her opponents and getting them to the ground before demonstrating her vicious top game. Both women will look to apply pressure when they can in this one – Dixon with her Striking, and Alekseeva with grappling.
Dixon is a well-rounded mixed marital artist with a lot of potential. Her contract with the UFC will come as a huge boost to UK women’s MMA, and she will be one to watch in a bantamweight division that is currently wide open.
