UFC Fight Night 214 just lost half of its November featherweight headliner in Movsar Evloev.
Evloev (16-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) was contracted to take on Bryce Mitchell (15-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 214 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, Evloev has suffered an injury and pulled out of the main event slot, leaving Mitchell without an adversary, according to ESPN Deportes.
MMAJunkie also followed up with someone close to the situation who confirmed the unspecified injury.
The top 15 featherweights, ranked #9 and #10 respectively, first agreed to a bout last month, putting their undefeated records on the line.
Unclear How UFC Will Proceed After Movsar Evloev Injury
At the moment, it is unclear how the UFC plans to proceed with their Nov. 5th main event. There has been no indication of another opponent for Mitchell or if he will remain on the card.
Here’s what the card looks like currently without Evloev.
- Bryce Mitchell vs. opponent TBA
- Neil Magny vs. Daniel Rodriguez
- Darrick Minner vs. Shayilan Nuerdanbieke
- Amanda Lemos vs. Marina Rodriguez
- Mario Bautista vs. Benito Lopez
- Nate Maness vs. Tagir Ulanbekov
- Ramona Pascual vs. Tamires Vidal
- Jinh Yu Frey vs. Polyana Viana
- Carlos Candelario vs. Jake Hadley
- Miranda Maverick vs. Shanna Young
- Josh Parisian vs. Chase Sherman
- Jailton Almeida vs. Maxim Grishin
With a few weeks and only one other featherweight bout on the card, it’s challenging to imagine Mitchell remaining the headliner. Instead, the UFC will likely lean on #3 ranked strawweight Marina Rodriguez against #7 ranked Amanda Lemos as a headliner. Of course, this is purely speculative on my part.
Do you think Mitchel will remain on the card? If not, who will they have headline the event? Who could be a potential replacement for Evloev. Let us know in the comments below!
