A banger of a headline for UFC fight night is set to go down. As Calvin “The Boston Finisher” Kattar takes on Arnold “Almighty” Allen at the Apex arena, in Nevada. A win for Kattar is vital to push him back on track to becoming a contender once again. In the opposite corner we have the Englishman Allen coming off an incredible 11 fight win streak, he also has yet to taste defeat in the UFC organization/ The only thing missing on Allen’s record is those high-level well-known competitors (unlike Kattar’s record). A win here could really change that and push the “Almighty” Allen into a “one fight away for the title” spot.
Chase Hooper VS Steve Garcia – Chase Hooper win 1/3
Hooper’s last fight was his best outing yet. He earned an impressive win over Felipe Colares via TKO in round 3. He was awarded with performance of the night back in May of this year with this win. Garcia is 1-2 in his UFC career and is coming off a nasty KO loss to Hayisaer Maheshate back in June this year. We believe Chase will have more ways to win this and perhaps even pick up a bonus from either a submission or TKO/KO victory.
Dustin Jacoby VS Khalil Rountree – Khalil Rountree win 5/4
Dustin Jacoby seems to have had a massive resurgence this late on in his career. In his last ten he has picked up a steady 8 wins 1 draw and 1 loss. He really impressed me last time out against Da Un Jung, where he grabbed not only the win but took the performance of the night bonus home to. This takes him onto a nice 4 fight win streak. Khalil Rountree may not have Jacoby’s win streak or record, but this man has been fighting with ill intentions lately. With some real eye-catching performances (and post-fight interviews). His last two wins have been in vicious fashion both in round 2. We believe taking the gamble on someone as dangerous as Rountree here for the win could be smart money. Especially as Jacoby is known to be the type to take one to give one type fighter.
Max Griffin VS Tim Means – Means win 6/4
Max Griffin took a big step up in his last bout against Neil Magny which he lost via split decision. He was perhaps unlucky but unfortunately for him Neil Magny turned up that night and was the better fighter. Now looking to bounce back and start climbing towards the top 10 rankings he’s got a tough test against a resilient, Tim Means. The key thing that we think stands out here is the experience of Means. He has faced much tougher competition than his opponent Griffin. Even in his last fight Means was having some success against Kevin Holland. Unfortunately, he got wrapped up in a slick D’Arce choke in round number 2. So, all that taken in, we know how tough both of these dudes are, but we are going to rely on Tim’s experience to grab him the win here.
Calvin Kattar VS Arnold Allen – Allen win 8/11
Onto what should be a great main event, Kattar will come into this fight with a real point to prove, 2-2 in his last four he knows he has to make statement win here, if he is to enter that top 5 again, his losses are only to the very best. As always styles make fights, Allen in our opinion is one of the worst match ups stylistically for Kattar due to Allen’s ability to be so good in all aspects of the fight game. Allen will need to come in this fight with a smart game plan, standing toe to toe with Kattar like he did against Hooker will not serve him well, Allen has to utilize all of his attributes to get this done, far from easy but we are backing the styles rather than the fighters themselves and are leaning towards the overall, MMA fighter in Allen.
