The UFC Charlotte co-main event featured a light heavyweight bout between #5 Anthony Smith and #7 Johnny Walker.
Smith, 36-17, comes in on a loss to title contender Magomed Ankolaev, but previously had a 3 fight win streak against Devin Clark, Jimmy Crute and Ryan Spann.
Walker, 20-7, steps into the cage on a two fight winning streak over Ion Cutelaba and Paul Craig. He looks to put his name back into the pot for the light heavyweight title shot, and with the division being as shaken up as it is, both fighters will have a claim.
The light heavyweights went the full 15 in a bout largely dominated by Johnny Walker. Walker marched forward and with the power of his leg kicks left Anthony Smith with little to show in the final round. Other than some overhands and some quick strikes, it was all Walker. In the post fight interview, he spoke about how he managed to break through Walker’s block.
