UFC 291 saw both Tony Ferguson and Bobby Green look to overcome their recent losing runs and get back in the win column.
Fan favourite ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson’s (25-9) run of losses stretches all the way back to June of 2019 when he defeated Donald Cerrone via tko.
Meanwhile, Bobby Green (30-14-1) was also looking to return to the win column having previously competed back in April of this year, where his bout with Jared Gordon was ruled a no-contest due to an accidental clash of heads.
Previously to the Gordon NC, Green is coming off back-to-back knockout losses to Drew Dober and Champion Islam Makhachev.
In the nights highly anticipated bout Ferguson vs. Green, saw both fighters going at each other. In a even back and forth affair. Ferguson took an early advantage dropping Bobby Green with a right hand in the opening round, but Green comfortably won round two. With a decision becoming the most likely scenario in third and final round, Ferguson attempted a takedown that saw Green gain top position. From there, Green locked in an arm triangle choke that resulted with Ferguson going to sleep.
