It has been announced that Marc Diakese will make his return to fighting on home soil. The ‘Bonecrusher’ last fought in the UK over three years ago, beating Joseph Duffy in a unanimous decision. On the 23rd of July Diakese is expected to make his second octagon walk of 2022. The fighter is hoping to build on a dominant win against Viacheslav Borschev in March.
Rumour Mill
The fight that has been teased as taking place, with an air of certainty, is a showdown between Marc Diakese (15-5-0) and Damir Hadzovic (14-6-0). The Englishman posted a photo five days ago signing a UFC fight deal, all but confirming this rumour. The bout will take place in London on the 23rd of July, and fans are anxious to get their hands on tickets. A returning fan favourite, in the shape of Diakese, is only likely to accelerate the excitement. The fight was first reported by Chisanga Malata.
Marc Diakese vs Demir Hadzovic
The fight is a perfectly concocted brew of violence. Of their combined wins, 17 out of 29 fights kept the judges out of it, a rate of 58.62% fights. Marc Diakese is most dangerous on the feet, sizing up his opponents before unleashing volleys of combinations, chasing a finish. His opponent. Hadzovic is more balanced in his approach, although he too leans towards chasing finishes. The Danish fighter, owner of 3 submissions and 7 knockout wins will be looking to add more finishes to his UFC resume.
The Englishman has gone 5-6 since joining the UFC, a record that does not reflect his talent. Diakese has fought against some of the, arguably, strongest fighters in the lightweight division. Notable losses are against fighters such as Dan Hooker, Nasrat Haqparast and Rafael Fiziev who all fight within the top 15 of the division. Having won his last bout with, a dominant performance against Borshev, he will be looking to secure another win and break into the top 15 of the division.
Across the cage, Hadzovic has ideas of his own. The Bosnian Bomber has walked out 8 times for the UFC, achieving an even record of 4-4. His last bout against Yancy Medeiros was a unanimous win, both fighters landing evenly and taking each other down multiple times. It was a war of attrition that the judges gave to Hadzovic. The Danish fighter will look to build on that win, believing he can avoid getting finished by Diakese, having only been finished once inside the UFC. Look for the Danish fighter to employ some shrewd grappling and heavy-handed strikes as he chases the top 15.
Don’t Miss Out
