A heartbroken Nathaniel Wood took to Instagram and Twitter this evening to announce that unfortunately, his fight with Vince Morales this Saturday is OFF.
The story so far.
Nathaniel Wood was scheduled to return at UFC London from a year and a half layoff due to a hand injury. He has started off his UFC career with an impressive 4-2 record, including 2 performance bonuses. His last outing saw a hard-fought, fight of the night-winning bonus bout against bantamweight contender Casey Kenney.
Morales however looked to continue to add to his 2 fight win streak, with his most recent win being a knockout of Louis Smolka back in December 2021.
Unfortunately for both fighters, Morales has suffered from fever since arriving in the UK. This understandably prevented his upcoming weight cut, forcing the fighter to resign from the fight.
All is not lost…
The UFC initially seemed interested in looking for a replacement for the London native, Wood. However, it now seems that both sides have agreed to reschedule the contest for a later date, which I’m sure is music to fight fans’ ears.
Nathaniel Wood is in the best shape of his career.
Wood recently posted a video to his Instagram, showing his incredible shape upon his return to the octagon. The caption read:
“I have never been more ready”.
It’s a shame that the return of The Prospect will be delayed for what seems to be another couple of months, but we wish Morales a speedy recovery and cant wait to see these two throw down in the near future.
