The UFC Paris main event will see Ciryl Gane return in front of a home crowd as the Frenchman takes on fellow top contender Serghei Spivac.
We will be bringing you live updates, results and highlights from all the action from the prelim opener, all the way through to the main event.
UFC Paris Main Event
A fascinating heavyweight dust-up tops the card, as Ciryl Gane looks for a return to winning ways in front of his beloved French crowd. Gane enters as the favourite but will likely have his hands full. Serghei Spivac stands across the octagon and comes into this fight full of confidence.
The ‘Polar Bear’ enters the bout on a three fight winning-streak, perhaps even more impressively, Spivac only has one loss in his last seven fights. The man to defeat him on that night? Top heavyweight prospect Tom Aspinall. Aspinall’s speed and power proved too much for Spivac on that night, something which Gane will be hoping to emulate. Spivac’s last win, was a first round submission victory over Derrick Lewis back in February and he will be looking to keep his winning run going as he looks to enter the title picture.
As for Ciryl Gane, he comes into this bout looking to reinstate his pride following a comprehensive defeat last time out against Jon Jones. The fight was Gane’s second failed attempt at heavyweight gold and for the second time, his grappling weaknesses were exposed. This will be something that Spivac will likely see as the key to victory and he will be no doubt looking to take this fight to the mat.
Gane though, is a wounded animal right now. he has been written off by pundits and fans around the world but we must remember that Gane only began MMA in 2018 and has only lost two Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. ‘Bon Gamin’ will be looking to remind fans around the world that he is still a problem in this division. So, don’t be surprised if Gane looks to make a statement.
Co-Main Event
The co-main event could be an absolute firecracker as Rose Namajunas makes her flyweight debut. The former strawweight champion returns after over a year away from the octagon. In May 2022, ‘Thug Rose’ lost her title to the thorn in her side, Carla Esparza. Esparza defeated Rose for the second time and snatched away the strawweight belt in what was a completely lacklustre affair.
Prior to that, Rose had been on a tear. She submitted Michelle Waterson before stopping Joanna Jedrzejczyk to win the gold. Rose then went on to win an immediate rematch before running into Jessica Andrade. Namajunas was slammed onto her head and KO’d in a bizarre sequence. This led to Rose entering into a rematch with Andrade and this time she was victorious. Rose then surprised everyone with a first round head kick KO of rising star and current champ, Zhang Weili. Rose and Weili rematched and Rose retained the title, this time via split-decision.
Namajunas went on to lose the belt to Esparza and it was unknown whether she would continue her career or not. Rose has said publicly that she intends to win a world title in a second weight class but she will certainly have her work cut out with Manon Fiorot.
After a being out of the octagon for a prolonged period, Rose will find an opponent that is looking to secure her own shot at the gold. The French fighter will be looking to impress the home crowd by defeating Rose and spoiling her debut at flyweight. Fiorot is currently on a ten fight winning streak, with her last defeat coming in her professional debut against Leah McCourt back in 2018. Fiorot is 5-0 in the UFC and has some standout wins. She defeated Tabatha Ricci, Mayra Bueno Silva and Jennifer Maia before beating Katlyn Chookagian last time out.
Fiorot will look to cement her claim for a title shot and should she be victorious over Rose Namajunas she will absolutely be in with a shout. This one has fireworks all over it. With Rose now refreshed and carrying some extra weight and Fiorot looking to continue her impressive run, this one could absolutely steal the show.
UFC Paris Main Card – Starts 20:00 on TNT Sports – UK Time
The card as a whole has been hit by last minute changes and fighters pulling out of their scheduled bouts. Benoit Saint-Denis is a hot topic in the lightweight division and he will look to pick up the scalp of Thiago Moises. It’s a clash of the light heavyweights as Volkan Oezdemir takes on Bogdan Guskov and the main card opener will see William Gomis face off against Yanis Ghemmouri.
UFC Paris Prelim Card – Starts 17:30 on UFC Fight Pass – UK Time
The prelim card has also seen some changes throughout but features two highly touted Irishmen who will be looking to silence the French crowd. Rhys McKee returns to the UFC for his second chance in the organisation. McKee faced off against Khamzat Chimaev in his last UFC debut and will be hoping that history doesn’t repeat itself here. McKee faces the Swiss, Ange Loosa.
The Irish invasion will continue with Caolan Loughran as he makes his anticipated UFC debut against Frenchman Taylor Lapilus. Loughran isn’t disturbed by the change of opponent and has claimed that after he is done with Lapilus, Sean O’Malley will know his name.
The prelim card will open with Zarah Fairn taking on Jacqueline Cavalcanti and will be followed by Farid Basharat against Kleydson Rodrigues. Nora Cornolle will step in against Joselyne Edwards before the Irish invasion begins. After McKee and Loughran have finished, the final fight of the prelims will get started, as Morgan Charriere takes on Manolo Zecchini.
