The French capital will host this weekend’s UFC in front of the always passionate Parisian fans. UFC Paris is always a highlight in MMA.
Former French special air services operator Benoît Saint Denis headlines UFC Paris for the first time in his career. Since making his UFC debut the Nîmes born Lightweight has been an unmissable addition to the UFC roster. This is the third UFC Paris event since the UFC brought the octagon to France in September 2022. Saint Denis shone on both previous occasions and produced violent finishes. He will hope for a similar result in his first main event also in his home nation. Facing the always ferocious ‘God of War’ will be one of the sports most popular fighters, Renato Moicano. The Brazilian is recently rejuvenated in his long standing UFC career and he finds himself on a three fight win streak coming into his first UFC main event. His growth in popularity has coincided with a phenomenal post fight interview at UFC 281, that night he became ‘Money Moicano’.
In the co-main highly ranked middleweights collide as the tussle for a title shot. Dagestani Frenchman Nassourdine Imavov finds himself ranked at 4 in the 185lbs division after a mixed set of results since joining the UFC. After nine UFC bouts he holds a record of 6-2-1 he could consider himself quite fortunate to be this high in the rankings. A controversial stoppage win over Jared Cannonier last time out after a majority decision over Roman Dolidze left some fans questioning his rise. Alternatively his opponent Brendan Allen has looked formidable as he has ascended the rankings. Riding a seven fight win streak with five rear naked chokes in that stretch Allen has turned his career around and he is hunting the middleweight belt.
Ones to Watch
Flooded with French talent the crowd will be electric from the prelims through to the main event. Morgan Charriere is one of the biggest fighters coming out of France and he’s performed excellently since joining the UFC and arguably should be 2-0. He lit up the Accor Arena last year and there is an expectation for the ‘Last Pirate’ to do the same again. Oumar Sy is 10-0 and an elite 205lbs prospect. The Frenchman won his UFC debut in vicious fashion and can win the fight wherever it goes with four submissions and four TKOs. A bonus is guaranteed in the main card opener, Fares Ziam vs Matt Frevola. Ziam is on hot form and Frevola’s last five fights have all finished in round one.
