Mark and Musk Prepare for Battle of the Billionaires
In an event that surely was not on your 2023 MMA bingo card, tech guru Elon Musk has proposed the idea of an MMA fight with social media pioneer and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Musk, on Twitter, after the prospect of Zuckerberg opening a social media platform that would rival Twitter, proposed a ‘cage fight’ for the two businessmen.
Zuckerberg, who actively trains in BJJ and has competed in the past, responded with the ever infamous ‘send me location’, straight out of the verbal poetry of our own Khabib Nurmagomedov. Mark Zuckerberg recently won the no-gi 149 pound division of BJJ Tour Silicon Valley, in the 30s only section. He won his final bout on disqualification and on points. With Zuckerberg actively training in MMA, it seems that it makes sense that he is a massive favourite.
Dana White Shows His Interest in Mark Zuckerberg vs. Elon Musk
UFC President Dana White has actively reached out to both billionaires in order to test their commitment. They are “absolutely deadly serious” according to White, he claimed in an interview with TMZ. White claims that an MMA fight with Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg would be triple the highest selling fight in PPV history, being the boxing bout between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.
White, who reportedly does not do gimmick fights, has opened himself up to the idea of the two CEOs battling it out in the Octagon. With Musk aiming for the bout to take place in the ‘Vegas Octagon’, it appears that the fight would be under the UFC banner if it ever did occur. According to White, if the fight were to occur, the PPV price would be $100, with the profits going to charity.
Ultimately the bout is unlikely to happen. However, if it does, it seems Zuckerberg is the consensus favourite, with his past experience speaking for itself.
