In the world of mixed martial arts, some things are never smooth-sailing, and UFC 279 weigh-ins showcased that with three fighters missing weight.
One half of the main event, Khamzhat Chimaev weighed in at 178lbs for his welterweight contest against Nate Diaz. The fight has now officially been cancelled. Rumours are circulating that Nate Diaz would now fight Tony Ferguson, who was expected to clash with Li Jinglinang in the co-main event.
Kevin Holland vs. Khamzat Chimaev has also been rumoured to take the co-main slot, with Li Jinglinang agreeing to now face Daniel Rodriguez. The UFC still have their work cut out, dealing with a handful of negotiations and different personalities.
Twitter blew up following Chimeav’s weight miss, with many finding fault in the way the Chechen carried himself before, on, and after hitting the scales.
