Max Holloway was able to produce one of the most shocking and violent moments in UFC history last Saturday night. This was when he knocked out Justin Gaethje to be able to clinch the BMF title. Holloway against Gathje was the 3rd last fight at UFC 300 behind Zhang Weili and Alex Pereira’s fights.
Max Holloway was winning on the judge’s scorecards when he looked at Gaethje and pointed to the middle of the octagon. The two fighters would then slug it out in the final moments of this incredible fight. Holloway was then able to land a punch in the final seconds of his fight which was able to knock out Gathje. This ended the fight in a highlight-reel fashion which was deserving of how the fight went.
Max Holloway will be able to pick and choose who he will be facing next in the octagon. Holloway can either stay lightweight and fight the winner of Islam Makhachev against Dustin Poirier. Another route he can go down is back to featherweight for a fight against Ilia Topuria. No matter what decision Max Holloway will choose we are sure to see him in a title fight in the near future.
This finish has since brought a lot of praise for Max Holloway. This included the UFC CEO Dana White who said it was one of the greatest moments in the company’s history. This was because of the “holy sh*t” feeling which was involved when you saw Holloway completely flatline Gathje in the final seconds.
