Seasoned UFC middleweights throw down in Las Vegas at UFC Vegas 104 for a shot at the 185lbs title landscape.
UFC Vegas is headlined by a rematch between two top-level UFC middleweights. After an excellent first bout in London at UFC 286 two years ago, Marvin Vettori again finds himself across the octagon from Roman Dolidze. The Italian has been inactive for 21 months, sidelined by many injuries. He will be eager to return to the win column and hold his top 10 ranking position. At 31, Vettori is in his prime and needs to kick on towards another title opportunity. Now a possibility as long time foe Israel Adesanya has fallen away from the title picture. Defeat in a fight of the night against Jared Cannonier last time out set him back, but now with new blood at the top of the middleweight division, Vettori offers fresh matchups for the hungry contenders.
Georgia’s own Dolidze has recently returned to winning ways with back-to-back victories. Many believe Dolidze was unlucky in the first fight between these two and should’ve had his arm raised at UFC 286. Following that fight, Dolidze had to wait almost a year for a fight due to a slew of cancellations. A loss at the start of 2024 against Nassourdine Imavov left a bitter taste in the mouth due to the dominant manner of the defeat. However, 2024 did end positively, with two wins later in the calendar against Anthony Smith and Kevin Holland. Combined, the pair in the main event this weekend have 26 UFC bouts, and across their careers, neither man has ever been finished.
