Ferocious featherweights Josh Emmett and Lerone Murphy headline another UFC Apex show in Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend.
The heavy handed Josh Emmett defends his ranking against the surging British contender. At 40 years of age Emmett could be on his way out of the sport however, his last UFC appearance proved he’s not finished yet. That last performance was a harrowing knockout of fellow contender Bryce Mitchell back in December 2023. The lengthy spell on the side lines has been labelled self preservation by the aging vet. With his only recent defeats to Yair Rodriguez and Ilia Topuria it is clear to see only the very best better Emmett. The inactivity has allowed the body to heal and Emmett believes it’ll be of great benefit come Saturday night. However, stood across the octagon is a fearsome striker with undeniable grit and determination.
Lerone Murphy has an incredibly inspiring story and carries the pride of Manchester every time he steps into the cage. Unbeaten with an impressive record of 15-0-1 the rise of Murphy has only been halted by external circumstances outside the octagon. Both 2023 and 2024 were far more productive years for the Manchurian. Four wins in two years including a fight of the night main event against Edson Barboza last May. After claiming a ranking spot by beating Dan Ige at UFC 308 fans awaited the big name next. If the Englishman is victorious this weekend he launches himself into the everchanging 145lbs title picture. The recently vacated title will be won at UFC 314 next week.
