UFC Vegas 63 goes down this Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlined by two of the most impressive fighters in the145lb division. Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen go head-to-head in a five-round matchup, this is not a fight to be missed. As well as the bout at 145lbs, there are a hand full of matchups that should not go unnoticed.
A Chance For Title Contention
Both Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen hold respective rankings in the featherweight division and are both on the hunt for their first title fight in the UFC. After Kattar got an impressive win over Giga Chikazde at the start of 2022, it seemed as if his title run was back on. however, a setback at the hands of Josh Emmet left him possibly needing another win to be back in title contention.
Arnold Allen on the other hand is yet to see defeat in the UFC. Many believe if it wasn’t for the injury setbacks, he would already be in title contention. Following a stoppage win over 12th-ranked lightweight Dan Hooker, Allen showed the featherweight division he meant business. If Allen is to win this Saturday, he will break into the top five holding an impressive 10-fight winning streak in the UFC. It may be hard for the UFC to deny him a shot at the belt if all goes well for the Englishman.
With featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski eyeing a super fight at 155lbs, the division needs a new championship-worthy contender and both men fit that title.
Main Card Killers
Although this may be a fight night, there are many noteworthy names on this card. UFC veteran Tim Means has fought a who’s who in competition. Names such as Kevin Holland, Matt Brown and Jorge Masvidal are just some to name a few. His opponent, Max Griffin, is no different. Coming off a split decision loss to ranked welterweight Neil Magny, Griffin will be hoping to fight his way back into the 170lb rankings. The 36-year-old has not fought since March and will be hoping to get back in the win column before the end of the year.
Khalil Rountree Jr has found his form once again coming off back-to-back brutal finishes. With wins over Gokhan Saki and Paul Craig, Rountree is not a fighter to be slept on at 205. However, neither is his opponent. Dustin Jacoby has seen it all in combat sports. A former Titan FC, Bellator, and Glory athlete, Jacoby has seen six straight victories since his entrance from Dana White’s Contender Series. This fight arguably has the potential to be the most thrilling on the card.
Ultimate fighter contender Tresean Gore, also on the main card, is looking to open his UFC win account this Saturday against 9-3 Josh Fremd. Both coming off losses will certainly make the fighters dangerous men who are hungry for victory.
Prelim Fighters You Should Know About
As well as a stacked main card there are multiple prelim fighters that cannot be ignored.
Andrei Arlovski is a man who has defied the odds-on various occasions. After his loss to Tom Aspinall in 2021, the 43-year-old has achieved four straight wins in the Octagon. Arlovski faces Marcos De Lima whose most recent victory came against BKFC rookie Ben Rothwell.
Pihl Hawes is set to fight Georgian middleweight Roman Dolidze. The Eastern European is coming off a win against Kyle Daukas, another bout not to be missed. The young Chase Hooper is also set to fight in the prelims against Steve Garcia. Another fighter who is looking to get back to winning ways.
UFC Vegas 63 has the potential to have multiple FOTY contenders and should not be missed.
