The UFC returns to the Apex this weekend for what looks to be the last time for the foreseeable future. After this weekend, there will be at least six UFC events in a row with a crowd. It finally feels like the Apex will stop stealing fights from the fans as frequently. However, UFC Vegas 70 takes place there on Saturday, headlined by an exciting light heavyweight matchup between Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann.
A lot is happening this weekend in the fight world, so this card seems to be flying under the radar a bit. However, some decent bouts are happening this weekend for UFC fans.
Let’s go through some of the best bets at UFC Vegas 70.
Andre Muniz to Win at -200 (1/2)
Brendan Allen is coming off one of the best performances of his career after submitting Polish middleweight Krzysztof Jotko in the first round. In his octagon interview, he called out his opponent for this weekend, Andre Muniz. It was a bold call out since the Brazilian is undefeated in the UFC and has yet to lose a single round. Allen will probably have a slight striking advantage, but the Brazilian should be able to take it to the ground when he wants. Muniz has shown how dangerous his grappling can be in his previous fights, and it will likely be too much for Allen to handle. Therefore, I expect Muniz to get the job done and possibly even pick up a bonus as well.
Mike Malott to Win by Finish at -105 (20/21)
In an all-Canadian battle, Mike Malott ( 8-1-1) takes on Yohan Lainesse (9-1) in the 2nd fight on the main card. While I believe the odds should be closer than they are, I still have Mike Malott winning this one. Lainesse’s biggest weapon is his power, but Malott will have the speed advantage. Meaning he should be able to dip in and out of range successfully. The fight also favours the 31-year-old if it hits the mats, this could be critical if it’s to go past the first round.
Malott has never gone the distance in any of his fights, so it’s worth turning it into a prop bet and adding him to win by finish.
Ryan Spann to Win by Finish at +163 (33/20)
The main event is a light heavyweight bout between Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann. This fight should be a coin flip. Both fighters are in a similar stage in their career, having fallen short a couple of times while on the rise, but only to elite opponents. Whoever wins this fight will likely be one fight away from a title shot. I’m putting my money behind Spann as the underdog on this one. Realistically there shouldn’t be a favourite, in my opinion, so the plus money line behind Spann is too tempting.
In addition, neither fighter likes to rely on the judges. Out of a combined 50 wins, only 4 have gone the distance. Therefore Spann by the finish is the most appealing bet of the fight to me, for the current odds.
