UFC Vegas 79 will see a clash between two of the hottest talents in the lightweight division, as Rafael Fiziev takes on Mateusz Gamrot.

UFC Vegas 79 Main Event
A mouth-watering lightweight encounter tops the bill in a lively Apex card. Rafael Fiziev and Mateusz Gamrot will collide as both men look to take that final step towards the top five. A big name awaits the winner and the loser must return to the drawing board.
Fiziev and Gamrot have both fallen short in previous attempts to break the mould at the top of the lightweight division. Fiziev most recently fell to defeat at the hands of the ‘BMF’ king Justin Gaethje. Gamrot meanwhile, failed in an attempt to topple Beneil Dariush.
Islam Makhachev holds the gold, whilst Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, Beneil Dariush and Michael Chandler also sit one step ahead of Fiziev (#6) and Gamrot (#7).
This is one of the most competitive matchups that the lightweight division could have thrown up. An intriguing clash of styles awaits as the striker takes on the grappler.
Co-Main Event
The Co-Main event follows suit. Grappler, Bryce Mitchell will look to put his ‘end of the world’ fears to one side as he returns to action against striker, Dan Ige.
Mitchell will return to action following a mauling last time out to Ilia Topuria. Bryce informed the media and the fans that he was struggling with a sickness bug throughout fight week and regrets allowing the fight to go ahead. Mitchell takes nothing away from Topuria’s performance but claims that it was reckless of him to even entertain the idea that he could win the fight in the condition he was in. If this is legitimate, Mitchell will be looking to make a statement here and this could be the big win he needs to set his run to the title alight once more.
Dan Ige on the other hand, has been defending his ranking of late, fighting off upcoming challengers along the way. If Mitchell is not at the races, he could be in serious trouble against Dan Ige. Ige, who’s nickname is ’50k’ due to his ability to switch someone’s lights out and get the bonus money is a huge threat to Mitchell and will be looking to make his own strides back up the ladder.

Just below the co-main event, Marina Rodriguez and Michelle Waterson-Gomez will run it back in a rematch. Rodriguez was touted as one of the divisions hottest prospects but has had her struggles as of late. Likewise, despite her likeable character and impressive stand-up game, Michelle Waterson-Gomez can’t seem to buy a win.
Contender series star Bryan Battle will face off with AJ Fletcher as he looks to continue his progression. In the featherweight division, Charles Jourdain will face off against Ricardo Ramos in the main card opener.
UFC Vegas 79 Prelim Card – Starts 21:00PM on UFC Fight Pass – UK Time
The prelim card opens with a women’s bantamweight bout between Tamires Vidal and Montserrat Rendon. Mizuki Vs Hannah Goldy will follow before Kamaru Usman’s brother, Mohammed Usman takes on Jake Collier in the heavyweight division.
Jacob Malkoun will take on Cody Brundage, Tim Means will face Andre Fialho, before Dan Argueta and Miles Johns face off in the final fight of the prelims.
