It’s a rematch at the Apex as Brendan Allen takes on Chris Curtis aiming to rectify his TKO defeat in 2021.
Chris Curtis stepped in on short notice to replace the Italian Marvin Vettori who was forced to withdraw due to injury. Allen welcomed the opportunity even though Curtis is far lower in the rankings because of the chance to get back the ‘fluke’ loss. A spectacular win for Allen will propel him into the title picture he is currently on a 6 fight win streak. Curtis comes in on patchy form, since beating Allen he is 3-2-1 in his last six with mixed performances and a no contest against Nassourdine Imavov. Since that no contest the bad blood between Curtis and the Frenchman continues to boil.
Another Frenchman features on this card, former Cage Warriors champion Morgan Charriere takes on Chepe Mariscal. Charriere debuted at UFC Paris last year in explosive fashion and he wants to continue his charge on the UFC featherweight rankings. Mariscal steps in on short notice to replace Seung Woo Choi and is 2-0 in the UFC he’s looking to steal the hype around the rising star this weekend. Fellow featherweights matchup in the co-main event, Alexander Hernandez and Damon Jackson have both been unable to gain momentum in the UFC and this fight could be pivotal in both men’s MMA career.
