Newly crowned UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards was pictured linking up with the controversial social media sensation that is Andrew Tate, alongside his brother, Tristan Tate, during the Birmingham boy’s recent trip to UAE.
Edward’s finally gained that long-needed respect that he deserved after dethroning the at-the-time pound-for-pound king Kamaru Usman at UFC 278. The Jamaican-born displayed heart, grit, and determination to come from behind a knock the champion out cold with one minute remaining on the clock of the fifth round.
The 31-year-old sits at the top of the pile in the Welterweight division with a target on his back. The last time Edwards tasted defeat inside the Octagon was, in fact, to Usman back in 2015.
Edward’s media has been amped up since becoming champion, and he has appeared on multiple shows and interviews teasing his next fight. In last week’s interview with TalkSPORT, Edwards stated the UFC had pencilled the trilogy fight with Usman in the UK in their diary. If he was to have his way, his ideal location would be Aston Villa’s stadium in Birmingham.
Leon Edwards Discusses Trilogy with Kamaru Usman
“‘To have it back in Birmingham in Villa – I grew up in Aston as well, where the Park is, so that would be amazing.
I don’t think there’s a roof though at Villa, so it would probably be a bit difficult to do in early next year, around February/March/April.
If not, we will find another venue in the UK. It would sell out quick straight away.”
During his continuous victory lap, Edwards was pictured with the opinionated Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate posing for a picture in the
UAE.
Edwards Shares a Snap with Tate Brothers
“UFC welterweight champ Leon Edwards appears to be hanging out with Andrew Tate, the far-right kickboxer banned from social media for his anti-women rhetoric, in the UFC,” Bloody Elbow reporter, Karim Zidan tweeted.
Leon Edwards and Andrew Tate. Two names I didn’t think I’d ever be saying these in the same sentence. What do you make of the linkup?
