The long-awaited showdown between rivals full of animosity towards one another is finally here. On Saturday night, Chris Eubank Jr vs Liam Williams and the full undercard are ready to light up the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff. After boxing was suspended in the UK for January, this highly anticipated bout is not to be missed.
The undercard of this electrifying main event is also packed with all-action contests. The co-main features Clarissa Shields vs Ema Kozin for the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBF world middleweight titles. Aside from the co-main, the UK fighters dominate the Saturday nights show. Promoters Boxxer has put together a great card featuring a lot of UK talent you should keep your eyes on.
Undercard: Ones to Watch
Following a glittering amateur career, 21-year-old prospect Caroline Dubois makes her professional debut. Caroline became the World Youth Olympic champion and also won the European Youth Championship 4 times during her amateur career. She is the younger sister of heavyweight dynamite Daniel Dubois. Caroline will be looking to make a huge statement on Saturday to make her own mark in the pro ranks. The pro debutant will take on Vaida Masiokaite of Lithuania.
Samual Antwi vs Conah Walker for the English Welterweight title is guaranteed fireworks. London’s own, Samual won the English title last year via a stunning sixth-round body shot stoppage of Darren Tetly. Making his first title defence on Saturday, an all-action war against Wolverhampton’s Conah Walker is expected. Walker demolished his last opponent, Jack Ewbank, in the very first round back in October. These two lads will be ready to put on a show come Saturday.
Wales’ own Chris Jenkins, former British and Commonwealth champion, has a big task ahead of him. He faces former unified world champion Julius Indongo in a massive welterweight showdown. Julius’ last fight on UK soil saw him dethrone Ricky Burns of his world titles back in 2017 at Burns’ own fortress in Glasgow. No fear will be on show by Julius’ as he comes to Jenkins back yard. Jenkins will also be looking to prove he is a level above with a stellar performance.
Red hot prospect Rhys Edwards is 11-0 with four knocks outs on his record thus far. The proud Welshman will look to maintain his unbeaten record in an eight-round super-bantamweight contest. He will take on the experienced Russian Ruslan Berchuk on Saturday night. Edwards has high regard as one of the best up-and-coming prospects in the sport. Saturday night in his home country of Wales, he will be eager to show us why.
Another all UK showdown on Saturday features Steve Robinson vs Shane Gill. The giant Geordie Steve Robinson boasts three heavy knockouts in his four-fight career so far. After Gill loses his first fight in the pro ranks, he will be looking to avenge that in Cardiff. The power-punching heavyweights have no intentions of this fight going the distance.
The last of the UK fighters on this card is none other than Harlem Eubank. Harlem is the cousin of the main attraction Chris Eubank Jr. The undefeated super-lightweight has an impressive record of 12-0 with four knockouts. Harlem will be ready to showcase his own skills and looking steal the show from his older cousin Chris. Over six rounds, he takes on the more experienced former IBF and WBC international champion Viorel Simion.
