The rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury is scheduled for 21st December. The first fight was for undisputed supremacy at heavyweight and to decide the number 1 of the division. By the end of their first fight Usyk secured the decision with success in the early rounds and later rounds. That fight was backed with a strong undercard and now the undercard for the rematch has been announced.
Usyk Vs Fury 2 Undercard
The undercard was announced by Turki Alalshikh on Twitter. The co-main event will be Serhii Bohachuk vs Israil Madrimov at 154lbs. Bohachuk is an excellent contender at welterweight with a record of 24-2. The Ukrainian is a big hitter with of his 24 wins 23 of them have come by knockout. Bohachuk previously held the WBC interim belt but lost it to Vergil Ortiz Jr. That fight was a close one however Ortiz was awarded the split decision.
Similarly, Israil Madrimov is also a quality fighter. The former WBA champion at 154lbs Madrimov is a great technician who gave Terence Crawford a run for his money. Carrying a record of 10-1 7 of those wins coming by KO Madrimov gave Crawford a tough fight. And it was a close affair with both men having a decent argument for winning. But, Crawford was awarded the decision and Madrimov lost his belt. But, despite both men coming off losses the quality of these fighters should not be understated and are high quality operators.
Prospect Central
The rest of the card is littered with interesting prospects who could become contenders in the future. Young Moses Itauma will face Dempsey Mckean. Itauma is a prodigy and the best British prospect at heavyweight by a landslide. He is 10-0 with 8 of those wins coming by finish most recently decimating Mariusz Wach. His opponent is Mckean a step up in competition and a decent fighter to test Itauma.
Another British heavyweight prospect present on this undercard is Johnny Fisher. Fisher is a rudimentary heavy handed prospect and has a record of 12-0 with 11 KOs. The Romford Bull has a sizeable and dedicated fanbase. Last time out he dispatched of Alen Babic in quick fashion. Now he will fight British heavyweight veteran David Allen. This will be a slight step up in competition with Fisher and for Allen this could be his last chance to secure a big pay check and a big win.
We also have another British prospect Dennis McCann vs Peter McGrail at super bantamweight. Contrary to his name McCann is no slouch holding a 16-0 record with 1 draw due to a fight being stopped due to McCann getting a cut. McCann has collected the British titles and has been looking to move to European level. Last time out he claimed the EBU title against Ionut Baluta. McGrail is a good prospect in his own right despite lacking the titles.
Isaac Lowe vs Lee McGregor is also on the card. Another all British scrap however is in the featherweight division. Despite these 2 not being the best fighters they are still pretty decent and this fight could be a fun scrap.
Undercard Quality
Although, not as stacked as previous Saudi cards this undercard is still very solid. And when you have a main event like this card does you can afford to not have a completely stacked card. The co-main is still great and the rest of the card is good. The aim appears to be to let the prospects shine on this card and to build the profile of these up and comers. We shall see how this card delivers come December the 21st.
