We know by now that Valentina Shevchenko was unhappy with the judges’ scoring of her latest bout with Alexa Grasso. She has expressed outrage about the decision in recent interviews with the media. It is easy to see why Shevchenko is upset because, in many people’s eyes, she should have got her hand raised. However, former UFC athlete Josh Thomson has slammed the former champion as being a sore loser.
Valentina Shevchenko Vs Alexa Grasso
It was a fantastic night inside the T-Mobile arena this past Saturday as Shevchenko and Grasso performed tremendously in their title rematch. It was a back-and-forth affair, with each fighter having moments during the contest. You could tell that both fighters wanted the title badly as they came out more aggressive than they did in their first encounter. Shevchenko had to fight through adversity as she hit the ground in the second round, and the former champion said she injured her hand during the fight. The controversial part of the night came when Judge Mike Bell scored the fifth and final round as a 10-8. That scoring ultimately cost Shevchenko reclaiming her title. As previously stated, Shevchenko has talked about her disapproval of the decision in recent interviews with the media.
Josh Thomson On Shevchenko
Shevchenko isn’t pleased with the decision, as she has discussed it often. Former UFC fighter Josh Thomson spoke on his podcast about Shevchenko being a sore loser.
“It’s funny, ’cause some of the things that Valentina complained about – I’ve really kind of flipped a switch on it,” Thomson said on Weighing In. “I’ve always been a huge fan of hers. It is a little just kind of ‘sour grapes’ in her post-fight interview with some of the media that she’s done afterwards. She had a little bit of a – not negative, but a ‘sour grapes’ attitude after she lost to her by submission in the first fight. I get it; you’re a champion. You don’t like to lose; none of us do. But this is taking it to a new level, just being like a sore loser.”

What’s Next
Dana White has already said there will be a trilogy fight between Shevchenko and Grasso. A third fight between the two makes sense, as all the contests have been incredibly competitive. However, if it doesn’t happen for some reason, there are many top contenders in the division ready to have a shot.
It is safe to say a third fight between the two would be very entertaining. Furthermore, it would garner a lot of interest.
