Robbie Lawler ended his career in storybook fashion at UFC 290 on Saturday night. The 41-year-old went into his fight with Niko Price coming off a TKO loss to Bryan Barberena. As a +185 underdog, Lawler came in “Ruthless” and finished Price with a beautiful flurry in the clinch just over 30 seconds into the fight.
The win becomes Lawler’s quickest finish of his 25-fight UFC career. His career ends with a 30-16 record (15-10 UFC) and includes a UFC welterweight championship with multiple title defenses. Lawler’s retirement signifies the end of an era in the UFC, as Lawler was the last fighter on the roster to have fought in PRIDE FC multiple times.
Robbie Lawler’s career includes wins over the likes of Nick Diaz, Donald Corrine, Johnny Hendricks, and many more. First joining the UFC at just 19 years old, Lawler’s run was short-lived at first but he was brought back after the UFC acquired Strikeforce. His 2nd stint in the UFC included his title run and his most memorable fights. The 41-year-old put the perfect stamp on the end of his career and had many UFC fighters buzzing with the win.
