Ali Syed’s victory over Lewis McGavin at Xtreme Kombat 15 came with some controversy after the Manchester Predators fighter threw a left-hand crisp on his opponent’s jaw before the fight had even started.
As Syed entered the Octagon, McGavin glared at his opponent from the centre of the cage. Seconds after, both fighters rushed toward one another and came face to face, which led to Syed throwing a shot before the bell.
Tempers flared with McGavin, bull-rushing the cage in an attempt to get back at Syed. A brief warning from the referee and action got underway.

After the incident, the opening seconds were as frantic as those watching would have expected. Syed and McGavin both traded in the centre of the Octagon, looking to land heavy blows. Syed shortly after scored a knockout and followed McGavin to the mat with a barrage of punches.
Still, McGavin was constantly looking for submissions among the madness while on his back. Syed and McGavin found themselves on their feet at the back end of round one. Syed, who looked the fresher of the two fighters, threw a wide range of shots putting relentless pressure on the Goliath MMA representative.
The second round consisted of a striking battle between the two until the finishing sequence. Syed utilised his long limbs and flexibility to lock in a triangle, transitioning to an armbar forcing McGavin to tap.
Syed and McGavin made sure those in attendance got their money’s worth in a fun-filled contest despite the low blow before the bell.
The victory moved Syed to (2-0) in his amateur career, attaining two stoppages in the process. McGavin fell to (1-2) but won the crowd over most definitely.
