Before the showdowns commence, all 24 fighters had to undergo the official weigh-in ceremony on Friday morning. Alongside regular hosts Dan Hellie, Laura Sanko, and Michael Bisping, top-15 lightweight contender Bobby Green provided commentary. His attention momentarily diverted when strawweight standout Mackenzie Dern approached the scale.
Reacting to Dern’s appearance, Green couldn’t help but exclaim, “Sheeeeesh,” as she confidently took her place.
Dern is eager to rebound after a less-than-stellar performance against former champion Jéssica Andrade at UFC 295 in November. Despite some ups and downs in her recent fights, Dern has showcased her talent with victories over Tecia Torres and Angela Hill, while facing setbacks against Marina Rodriguez, Yan Xiaonan, and Andrade.
Amanda Lemos stands as the obstacle in Mackenzie Dern’s path to redemption. Lemos, known as ‘Amandinha,’ returns to the octagon for the first time since her unsuccessful bid for the UFC title against current strawweight champion Zhang Weili in August.
