So, UFC London is now in the books. In what was a sensational night of action, Tom Aspinall secured a first-round submission win over the experienced Alexander Volkov.
Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett made it 2-0 with the promotion after an impressive first-round submission over Kazula Vargas.
It’s fair to say that the Brits stole the show last weekend, with Molly McCann also catching the eyes of the MMA faithful. McCann secured a late knockout victory over Luana Carolina.
In the co-main event, Arnold Allen maintained his unbeaten run in the UFC after securing a knockout win over Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker inside the first round.
‘Almighty’ showed his intent by piling on the pressure from start to finish. In the end, much to the delight of many, Allen came away with the victory.
Following the win, Allen immediately called for a showdown with Calvin Kattar.
Why Does Arnold Allen vs Calvin Kattar Make Sense?
Currently ranked sixth, Allen is just one spot below Kattar. When looking at the official fight rankings, it’s clear why a fight between Allen and Kattar makes sense.
Every fighter above the pair have either got a fight or are in the middle of fight negotiations. Next month, the current champion, Alexander Volkanovski, is set to defend his title against Chan Sung-Jun, The Korean Zombie. Max Holloway is likely to face the winner of April’s eye-catching outing.
There have been whispers of a possible bout between Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega that’ll take place in the summer. Despite nothing being concrete, it looks as if the UFC have their eyes on that fight.
Therefore, Allen vs Kattar is the perfect fight to make following UFC London. Both men are coming off of big wins. The winner may then be in with a shot of competing for UFC gold.
Do you agree? If not, what do you think is next for Arnold Allen?
